چکیده
Abstract Background Cytokeratin 18 (CK18) is an intermediate filament protein of the cytokeratin acidic type I group and primarily expressed in single-layered or “simple” epithelial tissues carcinomas different origin. Methods To systematically determine CK18 expression normal cancerous tissues, 11,952 tumor samples from 115 types subtypes (including carcinomas, mesenchymal biphasic tumors) as well 608 76 tissue were analyzed by immunohistochemistry a microarray format. Results was cells most organs but absent squamous epithelium. At least occasional weak positivity seen 90 (78.3%) types. Wide-spread 37 (31.9%) entities, including adenocarcinomas lung, prostate, colon pancreas ovarian cancer. Tumor categories with variable immunostaining included cancer arising positive precursor show downregulation fraction cases, negative occasionally exhibiting neo-expression, tumors derived expression, mixed differentiation. for example renal cell cancers breast cancers, whereas neo-expression found various origins. Down-regulation invasive no special clear (ccRCC) related to adverse features both (p ? 0.0001) poor patient prognosis ccRCC = 0.0088). Up-regulation linked high grade lymph node metastasis < 0.05). In summary, consistently especially adenocarcinomas. Conclusions loss originating progression may reflect dedifferentiation.

Clinical and Prognostic Significances of Cytokeratin 19 and KIT Expression in Surgically Resectable Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors
BACKGROUND Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) are malignant endocrine neoplasms that present diverse clinical behaviors. Therefore, identification of biomarkers of PanNETs is important for stratification of the prognosis of PanNET patients. Recently, cytokeratin 19 (CK19) and KIT expression were reported to have prognostic significance in PanNET patients. METHODS To identify their pro...

15 صفحه اولDiagnostic Accuracy of Squash Preparations in Central Nervous System Tumors
Background & Objectives: The accurate assessment of the diseased tissue is fundamental to the diagnosis and management of disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). The ‛squash’ or ‛crush’ technique has been universally employed in the intraoperative diagnosis of CNS tumors. The aim of our study was to evaluate the accuracy of squash preparation in diagnosing CNS tumors by comparing with hi...

OBJECTIVE To describe and discuss the design, building and usefulness of tissue microarray (TMA) blocks for the study of salivary gland tumors (SGTs). STUDY DESIGN Two hundred thirty-eight formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded SGTs were arranged in blocks of TMA using a manual tissue arrayer. Three representative cores of 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0mm were taken from each original block and their characteris...
